Sartorial, creative, sustainable: this is fashion in Venice. Fashion shows, cocktail parties, and events from Wednesday 23 to Saturday 26 March 2022
The future is handcrafted: sponsored by the City of Venice and Homo Faber, dedicated to craftsmanship, sustainability and haute couture, Venice Fashion Week is a contemporary narrative of the métier d’art.
The luxury market promotion of emerging talents, the partnerships between Venetian craftsmen and contemporary designers, the commitment to bring the international debate on sustainable fashion to Venice and the new interest in tailoring and the tailor-made, are the themes of the event organised by Venezia da Vivere.
Some highlights of the program, will be soon online here:
On Wednesday 23 March, the Music Room of Palazzo Sagredo will host the meeting “Building fashion: sustainability, craftsmanship, design and digital” organised by Venezia da Vivere with the participation of designers, artisans, companies, researchers and experts in craftsmanship and Green fashion.
On Friday 25th March, the Salone del Portego of Palazzo Sagredo will stage the fashion show of the Finnish designer Jasmin Santanen. She will present Being Luisa, a fashion collection dedicated to Marchesa Luisa Casati, the archetype of a free and contemporary woman, created with Atelier Martina Vidal, the custodian of Burano lace art.
The project is sponsored by the Finnish Embassy in Italy, and it will lay the foundations for a collaboration on fashion, craftsmanship and sustainability.
Saturday 26 March will see the opening of the exhibition; a story of the collection genesis, together with drawings and the story of Marchesa Casati’s beginnings. The exhibition will be on until 5 April at the Magazzino Gallery in Palazzo Polignac.
High fashion and sustainability in Venice
This year the great event dedicated to Homo Faber craftsmanship features Japan as its guest of honour. With a meeting that focuses on the project and the interweaving of craftsmanship and sustainable fashion, Venezia da Vivere and Tessitura Luigi Bevilacqua present A Dress for Venice: an exhibition of six kimonos made with fabrics from the Bevilacqua archive, works of art, craftsmanship and high fashion created by eco-designer Tiziano Guardini with designs by artist Luigi R. Ciuffreda.
Part of the Homo Faber in Città programme, the exhibition will be open from 10 to 29 April in the historic spaces of Tessitura Luigi Bevilacqua on the Grand Canal, including original 18th-century looms and Jacquard machinery.
The events will be live and online, with live Instagram feeds from the shows and backstage on the online channels of @veneziadavivere and @venicefashionweek.
Venice Fashion Week is an event sponsored by the City of Venice, by Homo Faber and it is included in the celebration program for the 1600 years of the City.
All events are free of charge with mandatory booking at email@example.com. They will be streamed on the Instagram channels of @veneziadavivere and @venicefashionweek.
